Feelings provoke reaction. Don’t get me wrong, I like telling stories too. But have you noticed that when ALL writers and filmmakers describe why they are unique, they reference their desire, need, or ability to tell stories?
I have a slightly different take. I’ve found that the most effective way to make an impression is to focus on creating a FEELING.
Call it a mood, or a vibe, or a tickle in your brain. I’m passionate about designing a state-of-mind, and connecting audiences to brands through those sensations.
But HOW we do that has changed dramatically in recent years.
As part of the team that helped to define video marketing best practices for Google and YouTube, I have unique insight into what makes an online audience feel something and act on that feeling.
I’ve put that knowledge to use for some of the biggest brands in the world, and some awesome smaller ones too.
So, I write scripts, I direct videos, sometimes I do both. I have the ability to see things from both perspectives AND understand how the choices made during each step will impact the way viewers feel, and therefore, how they engage.
